Lock Down (10)

When the steel doors closed and locked Liam, Charlie and the Intruder in the room, the events that followed were not exactly what Liam had advised Alia. The three were locked in the room both Charlie and Liam holding their firearms. The Intruder was trapped in the corner. Charlie began firing at the black figure as it dodged the shots.
Liam’s began to receive Alia’s messages through his earpiece. “Liam what’s going on?”
“We have the intruder cornered,” he replies. Charlie kept firing. Then electric currents surged through her body as she fell to the ground unconscious. The Intruder was a good three meters away from her. Liam had tazered Charlie from behind. The Intruder freezes. Liam continues to communicate to Alia. “It has taken down Major Jordan…” He points his gun and shoots it directly into the roof making holes in the ceiling. “Ahh!” Liam screams as he turns off his communicator. Liam glares at the Intruder.
“You stupid bitch,” he said. “You supposed to enter undetected!” He looks up at the hole he had shot. He pulls out of his pocket a small explosive shaped as a round ball. “This will distract them.” He throws the ball into the hole and it rolls through the air vent making a loud noise. He walks over to the corner of the room and the Intruder follows.
“The only way out during lock down is through the sewers,” he states. He pulls up a part of the wall where there is a large sewer pipe. He blasts a hole in the pipe about large enough to fit a human’s head. “GO!”
The Intruder squeezes its legs into the pipe, then torso and head until it is out of sight leaving with the core. Liam puts the wall piece back covering the Intruders exit. He pulls out a control from his pocket activating the bomb he had thrown into the vent causing it to explode. He quickly heads to the centre of the room next to Charlie and points his tazer gun at his chest. He pulls the trigger just in time for Alia to find him passed out. As he laid there unconscious, a single strand of long blonde hair floated on the floor of the room.

Lock Down (9)

“The Intruder entered room the 14th room on the 9th basement and activated the lock system to shut the door,” Liam explains to his audience Alia and Bison. Standing in the board room next to him is Charlie with her arms crossed. “Major Jordan and I managed to enter the room before the doors were sealed. Major Jordan began shooting at it, unsuccessfully hitting it. It swooped down and tazered her, knocking her unconscious. I began blasting at it, but it managed to avoid my shots and then tazered me… That’s all I remember.”
Alia looks at Charlie. “Do you have anything to ad?”
Charlie shakes her head.
“You both were unconscious for two hours, in that time we searched the entire vicinity. The Intruder managed to escape out of the building with the Core.” Alia states. She then glares directly at Liam. “You’re getting rusty Liam. Someone infiltrated the operation and you let them get away.”
Liam snarls at Alia and changes the subject. “Let the Mayor out of the Panic room. He has engagements to attend.” He does not make eye contact to Alia as he exits the room. Alia leaves after him.
Left in the room, Charlie approaches her Lieutenant.
“Bison, I want to apologise,” she says sincerely.
“For what?” Bison asks.
“The Intruder escaped from me twice, I won’t let it happen again.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Bison reacts apathetically. Charlie looks confused at her unconcerned Leader. Bison walks out of the room as Charlie watches him leave.

Lock Down (8)

Liam, Alia and Bison are in the elevator heading down to the second lowest floor in the Tempest. As the elevator door opens Charlie is there with fifty soldiers.
“So it’s trapped on this floor?” Liam asks hurrying out of the elevator.
“It took down five of my soldiers without blinking,” Charlie replied.
“How can you see it blink? Apparently it’s wearing a mask.” Liam states bluntly. All fifty soldiers crowd around him. “I want everyone in groups of five. The Intruder is dangerous. We also want it alive, so we are using tazer bullets. One shot and it will be knocked out for an hour.”
Bison separates his troops into groups of five as ordered. Each group begins to scan the floor searching for the Intruder. Listening to the conversations the Intruder hides silently in the above air vent.

***
Alia along with four soldiers all creep slowly through the hallways. All of them on high alert hunting the Intruder. With her heighten senses Alia is the one that locates it. She stands still and peers around the hall, the Intruder not in sight. She closes her eyes and listens. “Nobody move.”
All her troops halt. Alia hears the air running in and out of her soldier’s nostrils. A fly buzzes around down the hallway, about 10 meters away from them. Then Alia hears creek in the ceiling directly above one of her troops. She quickly spins around and shoots the ceiling making a whole in the roof revealing the Intruder. It swoops out of the vent down to the floor taking out two soldiers as it lands then leaps through the hallway away from those that found it.
Alia’s eyes turn yellow and beings chasing the black figure. She contacts all the other soldiers with her ear piece. “The Intruder is heading down the west corridor.”
Liam’s and Charlies troops are the closest to the Intruder’s destination in the West Corridor. The see it jumping down towards them and both begin blasting at it with their guns. It dodges every shot as it manoeuvres into a room on the side of the hallway. Liam and Charlie rush into the room following it. A large steel door shuts the entrance that the three entered into. Alia reaches the doorway as it shuts. She is furious punching the door making dents in the steel.
Alia turns to her soldiers that have crowded around her. “Get this door open!” she demands. She contacts Liam directly through her earpiece. “Liam what’s going on?” Static is heard then Liam replies.
“We have the intruder cornered.” Static interrupts. “It has taken down Major Jordan…” shots are heard. “Ahh!” Liam screams before the transmission ends.
Above the troops that congregate in front of the sealed door they hear something shuffling through the air vent. Several troops chase the noise above them, shooting at the ceiling. Then the shuffling stops and then there is an explosion in the vent. The ceiling crashes down as pieces of the roof lands on the floor. It is only pieces of roof that fall, the Intruder is no where to be seen.
Alia deactivate the lock on the steel door as it opens. In the enclosed room Liam and Charlie lay unconscious on the floor.

Lock Down (7)

Virgil Dylan sits in his large chair in the middle of his office with his eyes shut. He slowly opens them as the door to his office opens. Reiken Waters enters while Virge stays seated.
“Afternoon Virge,” Reiken says. He walks up to the desk Virge remains silent. “I’m just going to cut to it… I need your help. I need to get Trey out of the Asylum.”
Virge peers at him. “What did you exactly have in mind?”
“Can you use your government connections and get him out?”
“That could take several weeks…” Virge pauses. “But I know someone that can help you and do it a lot faster. He’ll be just around the corner from the Arraign Asylum on the Century Bridge at 10 o’clock. Don’t be late.”
Reiken nods not questioning a word Virge says. He turns and exits the room. Virge shuts his eyes and concentrates.

Lock Down (6)

Nine levels underground Charlie Jordan gets a call from her Lieutenant. Her brown hair is tied up in a ponytail to stay out of her face and ears. Her earpiece lights up blue.
“Yes Bison, our unit will be on the look out,” she says to her caller. “The Intruder won’t get out of the building.” She hangs up the call. With her are five troops from her unit. She stands before them her with a riffle in her had. Dressed in grey and standing at five foot five, she is shorter than all the soldiers in front of her, yet they patiently wait for her to speak.
“We have gone into lock down… no one can get in or out of the building, we-” Charlie suddenly stops mid sentence and quickly raises her riffle and fires it. The shot narrowly misses one of her soldiers head. The soldiers duck and turn to see where Charlie had shot.
In the corner of the roof a figure dressed in black body suit from her to toe crouches holding a glowing blue tube. It leaps off the ceiling and dodges the bullet. The five soldiers grab their fire arms and begin to aim at the Intruder. The Intruder lands on the ground and slides sweeping two soldiers onto the ground. The guns begin to fire all missing the Intruder. The black figure rolls onto its side and with its arms pushes it body upright and stands facing another soldier. Before another shot is taken the Intruder head butts knocking the soldier unconscious. Still holding the Blue tube with one hand, the figure uses its free hand and grabs its opponent by the shirt before it can collapse to the floor. The Intruder swings the soldier around. Its legs are in the air and hit the other two soldiers in the face. The figure the releases the soldier and throws it to the ground. The only two left standing are Charlie and the Intruder.
Charlie charges towards the Intruder shooting with her riffle. The Intruder leaps up over her. The Intruder kicks Charlie in the face as it pounces past her. Charlie’s face is wounded but turns as the Intruder passes her. She keeps shooting but the figure is agile and misses the bullets and escapes out of the room.
Charlie looks around at her fallen troops, within ten seconds the Intruder had taken down five of her soldiers. She calls Bison with her earpiece.
“The Intruder is on the 9th basement level,” she states. “It’s fast, strong… and it has stolen another core.”

Lock Down (5)

The elevator doors open as the Mayor arrives on the 26th floor of the Tempest. He is accompanied by Liam and his bodyguard the Champion. They walk through the corridor into a meeting room where they are greeted by Bison.
“It is good to see you again Mr Mayor,” Bison says as the Mayor takes a seat.

***

Down on the 3rd level of the building Alia enters a control room where she can watch video surveillance of the building on a large computer. She looks through files to find the footage of two nights ago, when the black figure broke in and stole the Core. She stops what she’s doing as she smells something oddly familiar. She sniffs and turns around. She walks to the door and opens it to the hallway. She peers left then to the right then sniffs once again. She quickly rushes back to her computer and enters a code.
Suddenly metal curtains come down cover every window in the 72 levels of the building. An alarm begins to beep.
“LOCK DOWN! Intruder in the building,” says an announcement on the PA system, the announcement can be heard in every room.

***

Back on the 26th floor the meeting is interrupted by the alarm. Bison makes a phone call and a hologram of Alia appears.
“What is going on Alia?” Bison asks.
“We have an intruder in the building, it’s the black figure that stole the Core the other night,” she explains.
“Did you see him?” Bison asks.
“I smelt him,” Alia replies as she hangs up the call.
The deafening alarm continues as everyone in the room stands.
“Take the Mayor into the panic room down the hall,” Liam commands the Champion. “After the assassination attempt yesterday we cannot take any risks with this intruder.”
The Champion nods and leads the Mayor out of the room to a secure room where once in, can only open from the inside.
“Call your troops, we have an Intruder to catch,” Liam says to Bison.

Lock Down (4)

Rieken Waters walks through the hallway of the Arraign Asylum, he has visited his brother many times, but this is the first time that he has walked down this corridor. He follows a robot that leads him to a door. The robot opens it and Reiken walks into a padded cell. In the cell are a toilet and a tap in one corner and single bed in the centre of the room. Trey sits on the bed staring at the ground.
“Why did I have to see you in your room?” Reiken asks his brother. “Why aren’t you in the visitors lounge?” Trey slowly turns his head to look at his brother. His skin is pale and has bags under his eyes. His whole body quivers as if the room is freezing cold, but his cell is warm. Reiken examines his brother. Trey’s wrist is wrapped up in a bandage. “What happened to your wrist?”
“I was attacked last night at dinner,” Trey replies slowly. “I don’t want to go near the other patients… so they are letting me stay in my room.”
Reiken is speechless.
“Did you talk to Alia?” Trey asks staring into his brother’s eyes with hope.
“I did… she…” Reiken pauses, seeing his brother hurts in the state he is in is agonising. “Don’t worry Trey… I’ll get you out of here. I promise you.” He walks up to his brother and hugs him. “I promise…”

Lock Down (3)

On the 27th floor of the Tempest is a level devoted to the eight government psychics. Half the floor is taken up by a large machine that only the psychics can use, the other half is a lab. It is an hour before midday as Maddy Chambers wanders through the lab. One of the eight psychics is researching at a table and sees him, he approaches Maddy.
“What are you doing in here little one?” the man asks. Although he can read the boys mind he does not. All government psychics are not allowed to probe other people’s minds without consent. “Are you lost?”
The entrance to the lab opens as Eve walks in. Maddy and the Psychic turn to her.
“There you are Maddy,” she says walking up to the boy and takes his hand. “I do apologise, he just wandered off.”
“Not a problem,” the Psychic says smiling at her. Eve returns the smile and skips out of the room with her son. As the door slides shut, Maddy pears back into the lab staring at the psychic. His eyes are focused on him. Eve leans down and whispers in his ear as the door shuts and the two are no longer in the psychic’s sight.

Lock Down (2)

The Vincent building is hosts many events and meetings. After the Phaser building and the Tempest, the Vincent building is the third largest sky scraper in the city. On the 34th floors a press conference is being held for the Mayor. He stands behind a podium with eight microphones in front of his face. Standing before him are dozens of reporters, humans and aliens of all kinds asking him questions.
“Humans as a species have a lot to learn,” the Mayor states. “In this day and age we are fortunate enough to have such close contact with so many other non human life forms that we can learn from them and improve ourselves as a species.”
“What exactly do you mean by that Mr. Mayor?” a reporter asks.
“Well take for example the Martians. Seventy years ago we came into contact with them and they taught a select few humans how to tap into a part of their brains to read other peoples minds. They also taught them telekinesis, without this we wouldn’t have psychics we know them today,” the Mayor answers.
“Mr. Mayor,” a human report from the crowd draws the Mayors attention. “What do you say to the allegations that you favour other alien species more than humans?”
“I say I do not discriminate any species,” he rebuts. “As you can see I am married to Valliant, not a human. It’s not that I prefer other species more than humans, I simply believe that everyone deserves equal respect, whether they are from this planet or another.” Standing on the side of the stage is the Mayors wife. Her skin is bright blue, her entire body including her head is completley hairless. The colour of her eyes is like crystal, they change at each angle the light shone on them. Beside her is her daughter, half human and half Valliant, she is also blue skin but had long brown hair flowing from her head.
Liam is standing behind the Mayor while he addresses the press. He walks towards him and whispers in his ear. The Mayor turns to his audience.
“Thank you for all your time today but I am afraid that is all the questions I will be able to answer for now. I appreciate you all coming out. Good day,” he says as he walks off the stage.
“You handled the questions very well Sir,” Liam compliments.
“Thank you Liam, what is on the schedule now?”
“We are heading back to the Tempest, you have a meeting with Lieutenant Bison Thames,” Liam advises. Liam and the Mayor head to the roof to a helicopter to take them to their next appointment.

Episode 2 - Lock Down (1)

Lying naked under her bed sheet, Lexie Skye sleeps. She rolls from one end of the king size bed to the other as she slowly opens her eyes. The room is dim as the sun is yet to rise. She sits up holding the sheet to her chest, she looks at the other side of the bed; it is empty. She scans her large bedroom. There are clothes scattered around on the floor from the night before.
A door opens on the side of the room where the ensuite is. The light from the bathroom is on and a silhouette of a man stands there. He walks into the room sits at the end of the bed and puts his shoes on. Lexie comes over to the man and wraps her arms around him.
“It’s so early… come back to bed Liam,” she says sultrily. Liam starts tying his shoe lace and does not turn around.
“The mayor has a press conference in two hours. I have to make sure he’s prepared,” he says.
Lexie starts to nibble on his ear. “You shouldn’t worry about what these stupid people think of the mayor… They will all be dead soon enough,” she whispers.
Liam finishes tying his shoelace, stands up ad faces Lexie. She stares at him admiringly with passion in her eyes. She leans black arching her smooth slender body still covering her chest.
“Yes, but it’s my job,” he replies. He leans forwards and strokes her cheek. Her smooth soft olive skin is warm. He pulls back and picks up his jacket from the floor. He puts it on and walks out of the room.

Ties (10)

Sitting in the passenger seat driving through the heart of the city, Cecilia peers out her window. Sky scrapers are lined up one after another. The reflection of the sun set sparkles off the windows of the buildings. As the sun fades, lights shine brightly from neon billboards, signs and street lights illuminating the large sky scrapers. Even at dusk the city glows. The bright concrete jungle is nothing to what she is used to growing up.
The hover car arrives at the Tempest. Cecilia steps out of the car and opens the back door. Virge gets out and together walk to the foyer. The pair is greeted by an athletic woman in army attire.
“Virgil Dylan?” the woman shakes Virge’s hand. “I’m Charlie Jordan, second in command in Lt. Thames unit.” Charlie turns to Cecilia. “And you must be Cecilia. I want thank you both for coming today.”
Charlie leads the two into the Tempest building and head towards an elevator. As they walk Cecilia examines the interior and the layout, she is amazed how large it is. They enter the elevator head down to the second lowest floors, nine levels underground.
“Above ground is mostly offices and where the mayor resides, most of the levels underground are for training the government’s soldiers,” Charlie explains. She takes Virge and Cecilia out of the elevator and to a large steal door shaped like a bank safe. “This is where our unit trains. We are the human division, made up of over 5000 human soldiers. They are currently in the middle of a training session, so this door is sealed shut. No one can get in or out while the training is on.”
“So do we wait?” Cecilia asks.
“I have already contacted Lt. Thames on your arrival, so he will be stopping the training at any moment, once I have the okay I can open the door,” Charlie explains. There is a devise in Charlie’s ear that lights up blue. “Speak of the devil.” She turns to the steal door, inserts a key and types in a numeric code. The heavy door unlocks and slides open from the centre. She heads into the room as Virge and Cecilia follow.
Behind the door is a gigantic room with steal walls. Lined up in hundreds of straight rows, 5000 soldiers stand like statues with perfect posture. In front of all of them Lt. Bison Thames greets his visitors.
“Thank you for coming Virge,” Bison says as he shakes his hand. He looks over to Cecilia as she grins from cheek to cheek. Charlie sees how Cecilia looks at Bison admiringly and interrupts.
“So these are our soldiers, each and every one of them is trained to defend and fight for our planet,” Charlie explains as she walks in between Cecilia and Bison.
Bison turns to Virge. “What do you think of them?” he asks.
“Do you mind if I take sit down?” Virge asks. Bison nods as Charlie brings a chair for him.
Virge sits and closes his eyes as his body collapses into the chair. His neck no longer supports his head as it falls to his shoulder. Virge cringes as his spine cracks out of alignment. He can no longer move from his neck down. He breathes and adjusts to the pain before opening his eyes. He looks at the army of soldiers that stand in front of him. None of them make a sound but he hears every single one of them and their intentions. He hears their thoughts and listens out for any indication of betrayal in the division.
Everyone is silent as Virge sits. After a few minutes Virge closes his eyes. His back cracks as all his disks realign. He opens his eyes and stands. He nods to Bison as he walks out of the room, Cecilia and Bison follow him.
“So what did you find out? Do we have a traitor in my team?” Bison inquires.
“No, none of them know about the core or what happened to it,” Virge informs. “You’ll have to search elsewhere for your answers. And Bison, don’t lead Charlie on.”
“Excuse me?” Bison asks confused.
“If you can’t give her affection you should tell her, it will make life a lot easier for the both of you,” Virge says. Bison stares at Virge frustrated. “Thank you for having us Bison.”
Virge and Cecilia get into the elevator and head to the ground floor. As they walk to their hover car Virge turns to his assistant.
“I know fancy Bison, but don’t. Not only is it going to cause confusion to our mission, but it’s also rather pointless” Virge says.
Cecilia nods not questioning him. She opens the back door of the car for him and closes it behind him.
Once Virge is comfortable he presses his watch and uses it to make a phone call, there is no hologram. The call is answered as he begins to speak.
“I just read his mind and Bison has no clue about our plans,” Virge advises. “Excellent,” the voice on the other end of the call says. “Everything is going according to schedule. We will prevail.”
Virge ends the call and stares out the window. Below him on the lowest level in the Tempest building Liam hangs up the phone from his end of the conversation. It is the largest room in the entire building. It could fit a seven story house in the room alone. Liam walks around the floor as dozens of engineers and mechanics are working on a large machine. Liam heads towards the machine to an engraving written on it: E18. He touches it with his hand.
“We will prevail,” He whispers.

Ties (9)

Liam sits at his desk in his office working on a project on a holographic computer. The doors open as Alia enters. He quickly switches off the screen and acknowledges her.
“You wanted to see me?” Alia says her arms folded.
“You’re getting rusty Alia. Someone infiltrated your operation and you let them get away,” Liam states as he gets up from his chair.
“Bison is working on it… we’ll get the core back. Was that all you wanted, to waste our time and criticise or did you have something relevant to tell me?” Alia stands like a tower unintimidated.
“There was an assassination attempt on the mayor today. It was a Stagger.
The mind readers have it but are getting nowhere. I want you to investigate and see if you can find out who sent the assassin,” he explains.
“I really think I would be at better use finding locating the stolen Core.”
“Like you said… Bison’s on it… he’ll find it soon enough,” Liam rebuts. Alia tilts her head at Liam, her eyes glaring at him. She turns around and walks out of his office. She enters the elevator and heads down two floors to her office. Alia’s office is a lot smaller than Liam’s.

Alia opens the door and standing at the desk is a familiar face.
“Reiken,” Alia says surprised. Her tone is warm yet cautious. “What are you doing here?”
Reiken looks at his old friend. “Hello Alia. How have you been?”
Alia walks around Reiken and sits at her desk. She looks up at him. “I’m good… again… what are you doing here?”
“I came to ask for your help,” Reiken admits. “It’s about Trey.” He pauses staring into Alia’s eyes. “He is finding it hard to cope in the asylum. He’s gotten a lot better but they treat him like an animal.”
“He shouldn’t have tried to kill him then.”
“Be that as it may… They shock him if he even gets agitated. He doesn’t deserve being locked in there like a monster… You of all people should understand that. Can you do anything to try and maybe get him on parole or probation?”
Alia does not answer straight away. She puts her head down and gets out of her chair. She walks around to Reiken standing face to face.
“I’m sorry Reiken. I know Trey isn’t a killer. But he tried to kill the Mayor… We can’t let him out,” Alia says. She looks deep into Reiken’s eyes. She can see his desperation. She knows that every moment Trey is in the asylum it is hurting him. “I’m sorry.”
Reiken sighs, then leans over and puts his arms around Alia hugging her. Alia stands there, her arms not leaving her side. Reiken steps back.
“It was nice seeing you,” he says. He turns around and makes his way to the door. He turns back before exiting. Alia is not looking at him; she is looking at her desk. He leaves the room closing the door behind him. Once she hears the door shut she peers up and sighs.

As the sun begins to sets on the Arraign Asylum the patients roam around the dining area for their dinner. Trey Water stares at the ground as he makes his was into the room dragging his feet behind him. He takes a seat as he waits to be called to retrieve his food.

“You’re in my seat Human,” a deep croaking voice says from behind him.
Trey slowly turns around and sees a large Tusk alien holding a tray of food glaring at him. Before Trey can opens his mouth to say something the Tusk drops its tray and backhands Trey in the face throwing him off the chair. Trey collapses on the floor, his body landing on top of his wrist. He quickly rolls over facing the Task, his heart beating faster. The Tusk raises its arms and starts charging towards him. Trey tries to retreat, crawling backwards.

“Help…” he says in panic, “help!” His collar begins to shock him. He yells louder as he shakes.

The Tusk raising its arms preparing to pound the boy… Then it stops. Its pupils hide into its eyelids as it passes out at Trey’s feet. A large tranquiliser dart that was shot by an Android worker is embedded in the back of the Tusk’s neck.

Ties (7)

Liam rushes through the hallway of the Tempest building with the slender woman who accompanied him on the roof, Lexie Skye. They push past the people in the hall; Liam has no time to waste.
“The Mayor has a meeting at three make sure he gets to it. His wife will also be attending, make sure that the press and his family do not find out about the incident on the roof,” Liam instructs Lexie as they arrive at the door to his office. He opens the door and to his surprise Eve is standing facing out the window.
“What are you doing here?” Liam asks. Eve turns around from the window and smirks.
“He wanted to see you,” she explains.
In the centre of the room behind the desk a chair swivels around. In it is Eve’s son Madison.
“Daddy!” the little boy exclaims as he jumps out of the chair and runs towards Liam.
“Hi Maddy, have you been good?” Liam asks as he picks up his son.
“Yes Sir.”
“That’s my boy,” Liam sneers at Eve. He then turns to Lexie. “Can you take Maddy for a moment?”
Lexie nods. Liam puts down his son.
“Ok Kiddo, well you know how you like the zoo? How bout I take you there this weekend?”
“Really?” Maddy replies in excitement.
“Sure, now you go with Lexie while your Mum and I talk ok?” Liam instructs his son.
“Yes Sir.”
Maddy turns to Lexie as she takes his hands and escorts him out of the office. Liam closes the door as they leave. Liam glares at Eve in annoyance.
“I told you not to bring him here,” he says bluntly.
“You’re son wanted to see you,” Eve replies as prances over to him.
“And he will see me, just not here… you know why, you know the plan.”
Eve comes up to Liam and slowly strokes his face with her hand as if she was feeling fabric. “Plans change Liam. You of all people know that.”
The phone on the desks begins to ring. Liam barges past Eve and answers it. A hologram of a 50 year old man with a beard in a robe appears.
“What are the results?” Liam demands.
“We have the assassin… unfortunately we cannot probe its mind,” the hologram explains. The hologram is calling from a room five floors above Liam’s office where the Mayor’s eight psychics work in a large white laboratory. In the lab on an examination table the Stagger assassin lies.
“Why not?” Liam asks.
“The Alien has managed to block us somehow…” the hologram replies.
“Well unblock yourselves!” Liam orders. “We need to know who is after the Mayor.” Liam hangs up the call abruptly and the hologram disappears. He quickly dials the phone as he looks at Eve. “I’m occupied at the moment. What did you want?”
Eve wanders over to the chair behind the desk and lounges on it putting her feet up on the desk. “I want to talk about the plan… I want to do it sooner.”
“No… We stick to the time frame… and this is nonnegotiable,” Liam states. The call he dialled answers a hologram of Alia appears.
“Yes Liam,” the hologram says.
“I want to see you in my office in half an hour.” Alia nods as the hologram disappears. Liam gives his full attention to Eve. “Just because you are getting restless does not mean we have to be careless. Why don’t you take care of my son so he can turn out to be a normal human being unlike his parents?”
Eve gets up from the chair. “Fine, I’ll be patient. Maybe I should wait til Alia gets here; she always loved our little plans.”
Liam grabs Eve and pushes her to the wall with his hand around her neck choking her. He stares at her directly in the eyes in anger.
“Listen here you sadistic bitch. The only reason why you are still alive right now is because of me and our deal. If you go back on it at all, don’t think I will hesitate to finish you myself. Am I clear?” He threatens.
“Crystal,” Eve replies choking. Liam lets go of her as she rubs her neck smirking. “Very well, I’ll stick to my side of the agreement. You had better stick to yours…” Eve tilts to Liam still smirking as her walks out of the office and shuts the door behind her.

Ties (6)

Virge and Cecilia are doing last minute checks on a large machine in the Phaser building. Cecilia is on the top of the machine checking the circuits.
“Why did Lieutenant Thames offer you money for your help?” Cecilia asks her boss. “Does he not know you own this building and five others in Century alone?”
“Bison and I have grown a part in the last few years. He doesn’t know a lot about me anymore,” Virge explains. Virge is walking from one side of the machine to the other, inspecting its exterior. “Everything is fine from here, how’s it looking up there?”
Cecilia closes a lid on the top of the machine and jumps down. “It’s ready to go.” They walk over to a computer in the corner of the room. Virge types in a command as the walls on the opposite side of the room opens. The machine begins to heat up as rockets on its rear blasts it out of the building and into the atmosphere. As it leaves shoots out of the building the wall closes again.
“I think it wouldn’t hurt seeing their operation, I mean… it could umm, help with out project…” Cecilia suggests. Virge looks at his assistant and smirks.
“I don’t have to read your mind to know what you’re up to. If you want to see Bison again we can arrange it. Set up the car, we’ll leave soon.”
Cecilia blushes as she leaves the room to prepare to visit her new crush.

Ties (5)

On the roof of the Vincent Building on the edge of the city, the Mayor’s personal helicopter touches down. The Mayor and team steps out as three guards await their arrival. The guards stand in a line each with a riffle strapped around them.
“Welcome Mayor Jones,” says the guard positioned in the middle. “We have been waiting for your arrival and-” he freezes as he begins to choke. His body jerks before he collapses forward onto the floor in front of the mayor bleeding from a wound in his back. Standing behind the fallen guard is a Stagger, a tall brown slender alien with coarse skin and small spikes all over its body. Protruding from its wrists are 12 inch blades made out of the alien’s cartilage.
The guard on either side instantly pull out their riffles and point at the Stagger about to shoot. The alien is in between the two and in one quick extension, stretches its arms out stabs each guard simultaneously with its blades. It retracts its weapons out of the men as they fall. The Stagger glares at the Mayor, turns its head to sneer at those standing behind him: Liam, the large man and the slender woman. It pounces leaping forward about to attack them when it is intercepted.
The large man leaps forward grabbing the Stagger in mid air and forcing it to the ground. The ground shakes as the Champion lands on top of the alien. The Champion, the Mayor’s personal body guard is huge at 6 foot 6 and 200kgs of pure muscle. The Champion holds the Stagger down with his legs planted on the alien’s body. He grabs the Staggers left arm and pulls it off its body. The alien lets out a deafening screech as blood spurts out of the aliens shoulder where there used to be an arm. The Champion throws the detached arm to the side then raises his fist about to pound him.
“Stop!” Liam orders. Liam Chambers is the Mayor’s right hand man and is respected by most of the Mayor’s men. His ash blonde hair, blue eyes and boyish features perceived him as innocent, but those who know him know he is anything but. “We need him alive. We will take him to the mind readers and find out who sent him.”
The Champion nods and looks down at the Stagger. It glares back at him furious. It lets out a second loud screech as the Champion disables its other arm.

Ties (4)

Five blocks down from the Tempest is the Phaser Building. On the 18th floor, Virge Dylans sits behind his desk across from his assistant, Cecilia. They are going through a confidential document when the intercom beeps on the desk. Virge turns his chair towards the intercom as a holographic face appears.
“Lieutenant Thames is here to see you sir,” says the hologram.
“Send him in,” Virge acknowledges.
The face disappears, moments later the office door opens as a muscular man enters. Lieutenant Bison Thames stands tall with perfect posture as he turns to Virge.
“Virge, how have you been?”
“I’m well thank you. You remember my assistant Cecilia?” Virge says as introduces his assistant.
“Of course,” the Lieutenants replies, “how are you?”
Cecilia closes the files on the desks, picks them up and gets out of her chair to walks towards the man.
“I’m good thank you Lieutenant Thames?” Cecilia acknowledges shaking his hand.
“Please call me Bison.”
Cecilia smirks looking up at him. Bison towers over the very slender and small assistant. Cecilia turns back to Virge. “I’ll leave you boys to your business,” she gives one more smile to Bison as she exits the room. Bison walks up to the desks and sits across from Virge.
“So what brings you here?” Virge asks.
“I wish I could say this was a social visit, but unfortunately old friend I came to ask a favour… Something important was stolen from one of the labs yesterday. We suspect it was an inside job. I was hoping you could assist us in finding out if we have a spy in our mists.”
“Ah, I’m sorry but you know I don’t do that anymore. Also since the new mayor stepped in I’m not one for helping out his ‘government’.”
“I understand, since the accident you have not been in action lately.”
Virge glares at Bison’s remark.
“I still have some tricks,” Virge states. He tilts his head slightly and stares at a glass on the side of the table. The glass slides across the surface and in front of Bison. “Drink,” he offers.
Bison pauses for a moment before speaking. “No thank you.”
“The mayor has a number of capable mind readers that could reveal the spy. Why not use them?” Virge asks.
“We have eight, all in which are well known within the organisations. If any of them were brought in, the spy may sense we are on to him and could potential do something drastic.”
“I’m sorry but I think I will have to decline. I am currently busy with other projects at the moment.”
“Just think about it. We are willing to pay. You could earn enough money to fund your project. Maybe you could even walk again.”
Virge looks at Bison and smiles. His chair swivels back away slightly from the desk. He sits hunched as he closes his eyes. He instantly sits up and straightens his back. He stands from his chair and opens his eyes.
“I can walk, but thank you for the offer I will keep it in mind.”
Bison nods as he gets up from his chair as Virge walks him out of his office. Once Bison has left the room Cecilia enters.
“Shall we continue with our project?” Virge asks his assistant.

Ties (3)

Just outside the city, the Arraign Asylum holds hundreds of mentally unstable beings, one of them being Trey Waters. Trey sits on a couch in the communal lounge area, staring blindly at a pot plant in the corner of the room. The scrawny twenty two year old is run down and stressed as he has not had a good night sleep in months. An android and a man come up to him.
“You have a visitor,” the android says. The man has a seat next to Trey as the Android leave them alone.
“How are you coping brother?” asks the man. Reiken Waters had been visiting his younger brother as often as he could manage since Trey had been admitted, he was Trey’s only visitor. “They keep trying to restrain me,” Trey replies in a soft monotone voice. “But that’s when it happens, that’s when I see it again.”
“Still having the dreams?”
“They are more vivid than ever.” Trey looks at his brother. His pitch changes from soft to sounding desperate. “You know I don’t belong here Reiken, I’m not crazy.”
“I know what happened wasn’t you, but there’s nothing I can do,” Reiken explains.
“You can get me out of here. You have no idea what it’s like in here… Please.”
“I’ve already tried. You’re just going to have to get better.”
“There is nothing wrong with me!” Trey exclaims. As he yells he begins to shake in pain as electric shocks serges through his body. As he shakes the other patients in the asylum stare at him. Trey stops shaking and looks around. One alien in particular is glaring at him, a Tusk alien. It is a large grey creature with skin as solid as rock, with spikes running down its back.
Trey breathes heavily as he puts his hand on the collar on his neck to show his brother.
“It’s so I remain calm,” he states. The two brothers look at each other in silence for a moment as Reiken looks concerned. “Can you just try?”
“I’ll talk to Alia, maybe she can help pull some strings,” Reiken says.
“Thank you… I can’t stay here like this…”

Ties (2)

The next morning, the broken window at the Tempest has already been fixed. In front of the building a press conference is being held. There are a group of people on a stage and a man speaking behind a podium. Hundreds of people and aliens gather around to hear his speech.
“We will all work together, so that humans and all alien species can live together in harmony,” says the man.
At the back of the crowd, Eve Starling holds the hand of her six year old son. Eve is in her mid twenties and is considered to be a little person, standing just over five foot with a very thin figure. She has long blonde wavy hair and bright blue eyes. Her son looks up towards her.
“Mummy, what’s he saying?”
“He’s going to change the world honey,” she replies.
As the man on the stage finishes his speech, the crowd applauds.
“He’s finished, I want to see Daddy now,” the boy says excited, with one hand pulling his mother’s arm and the other pointing at the stage.
“Daddy’s busy Maddy, we’ll see him later.”
The man on the stage smiles at the crowd then turns around to consult the people standing behind him, two men and a woman. One of the men is large and muscular while the other is blonde and lanky. The woman is slender and tanned with long straight brown hair.
“Nicely said Mayor Jones,” the lanky blonde man states.
“Thank you Liam,” replies the Mayor. The Mayor walks off the stage with the other man and the woman while Liam stares into the crowd. He sees Eve and her son Maddy and acknowledges them by nodding his head. He then follows the other three off the stage to and onto a helicopter.

Episode I - Ties (1)

The year is 2112 in the city of Century. With a population of two million people and 300,000 aliens, Century is one of Earth’s most diverse cities. As the population increased, there was limited land so buildings were made taller to fit more bodies. The city is clustered with large sky scrapers. Hover cars fill the streets of the industrialised city during the day but at night the streets are almost deserted but brightly lit from many neon street lights.
In the heart of the city at 2am, the Tempest, a government owned building has closed for the night. No unauthorised personnel can get access in or out of the building… all except one.

On the 5th floor a window smashes as a slim figure, completely covered in black from head to toe, leaps out of the building with a glowing blue cylinder in its hand. It lands on the ground from the five story jump without losing balance and continues to run. The figure moves swiftly and majestically jumping from the ground to the top of a lamppost to a balcony of a building.
Leaping out of the shattered window behind the figure, Alia follows in pursuit. Alia Jerrod is a General in the government’s army. She is an attractive slim, yet athletic woman with black hair and brown eyes. She is one of the Earth’s most powerful soldiers. She stomps on the ground as she lands. Her eyes turn from brown to yellow as she looks up at to see where the figure has gone. She kneels down and pounces up like a frog. She jumps four storeys off the ground and directly onto the balcony of the building the figure had leapt to.
The figure is just ahead of Alia, it quickly jumps off the balcony and leaps on the top of parked cars towards a bridge. Beneath the bridge runs a freeway with several hover cars going more than 130km per hour.
Alia jumps off the balcony following the figure. She pushes a small communication device in her ear that lights up.
“I’m in pursuit, he has the Core” she says as she keeps her finger on the device. “Whatever he is, he’s fast and nimble.”
The figure jumps off the bridge and falls onto the middle of the freeway. Without stopping, it lands and lowers itself to the ground sliding forward beneath two passing hover cars. Once it passes the cars it uses its hand and pushes itself up in one constant motion, it throws itself to the other side of the freeway landing perfectly on two feet.
Alia reaches the bridge and jumps off landing on the bonnet of a hover car. She causes it to swerve, almost hitting another car. She jumps off and lands on the other side of the freeway after the figure.
The figure quickly jumps on top of a sewer lid. It grabs the lid and pulls it up above its head as it slides into the sewer closing the hole behind it. Alia lands at the sewer entrance. Grabs the closed lid and throws it to the side. She then jumps in.
The sewer is dark, barely lit by the light coming from the hole above. Alia drops down as water runs beneath her feet. She looks around; the sewer is like the middle of a long dark hallway with many cracks in the wall and no doors. There are only two directions the figure could have run. Alia sniffs; the stench of sewerage is strong. She looks down one path of the sewer, turns around and peers down the other end. She grumbles then pounces out of the sewer through the hole she came in from.

Moments pass then out from a crack in the wall, no bigger than metre wide, a hand appears. The hand pushes against the wall as an arm and torso slide out after it. The black figure slowly squeezes its entire body out of the small crack pulling out the glowing blue cylinder, the Core, with it. It stands upright brushing itself off.
Suddenly, Alia leaps back into the sewer from above and instantly grabs the figure by the neck. Alia’s eyes are glowing yellow in anger. The figures feet are not touching the ground as Alia is lifting it. The figure has the Core in one hand, with the other it pulls out a small round device from a pocket. It pulls a pin from the top of it and throws it at Alia’s feet. Alia looks down at the grenade. Within a second the device explodes throwing Alia to the wall and losing her grip of the figures neck. Alia is on the ground against the wall, she shakes her head looking up. The figure is no longer in sight. Alia sniffs and scans around. She gets up and presses the device in her ear.
“He got away.” Alia walks towards the hole and leaps out of the sewer. In the sewer, amongst the waste, a single strand of long blonde hair floats on the water.

Epilogue

5,000km underground it digs. The E18, a drill shaped like a rocket and the size of an eighteen storey skyscraper tunnels through the layers of earth getting deeper and deeper until it stops. It hits the centre of the earth, the core. The heavy explosives embedded in the E18 ignite and the drill explodes.

Above the drill on the earth’s surface, it’s day time in the city of Century. Children are playing in the streets, people walking their dogs, eating lunch, all unaware of what has just occurred below them. The ground beneath them begins to tremble. Within seconds the tremor turns into an earth shake. Glasses shatter, trees fall and trains derail. The ground begins to heat up as the floor erodes. Then it happens… In one sudden blast the earth explodes. What was once the chaos that is life is replaced by darkness and silence.

That is when he wakes up…

***

He screams as he wakes from his dream in a hot sweat. He sits up from his bed trying to move but can only manage to shake as his arms are restrained; the straight jacket is on tight. He falls off the bed and to the floor onto his stomach.
“We’re all going to die,” he screams, “we’re all going to die.” His yell echoes in the enclosed, white, sterile room. Trey Waters had had the same dream every night for the past five months, each time it seemed more real. It was all he could think about, it consumed him.
The one door in the room opens as two human shaped androids walk in. They speak to one another.
“He needs to be sedated.” One android kneels down and from its wrist a needle is extended. The needle is stabbed into Trey’s neck as he screams in pain. The android rolls Trey onto his back as he whispers.
“We’re all going to die… we’re all going to die.” His whispers slowly fade as he closes his eyes and falls back to sleep.
